IraqiNews.com Exclusive: Terrorist operation foiled in Diyala

Diyala, Baquba (IraqiNews.com) Diyala Police revealed details of an attempt to detonate a truck bomb in Muqdadiya district of Diyala province.The Commander of Diyala Police Department, Brigadier Jamel al-Shimari, stated in press conference held at the headquarter of Diyala Police attended by the correspondent of IraqiNews.com “Based on the instructions of the Commanding General of Armed Forces, Premier Nouri al-Maliki, and adopting the proactive security operations to pursue terrorists and destroy their shelters, a joint security force led by Diyala police Commander raided areas adjacent to north of Diyala and areas within Salah-il-Din province.””The security forces managed to kill a suicide bomber, wearing an explosive vest, along with other three terrorist and seized four vehicles ready to be booby-trapped as well as burned two motorbikes were using for traveling by the terrorist,” the statement added.The statement added ”The police patrols managed to seize a truck driven by suicide bomber carrying (17) tanks filled by the highly explosive material (C4) covered by sand in order to facilitate smuggling the truck through the security checkpoints, ” noting that ”The suicide bomber was intending to detonate the bomb truck in Muqdadiya district to arouse sectarian sedition in the area.”

”The security forces chased the suicide bomber and killed him as he threw a grenade targeting them, ” pointing out that ”The suicide bomber turned to be an Arabian carrying a fake identity card,” the statement concluded. \END\
