Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry forms committee to compensate victims of Monday explosions.

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Ministry of Human Rights has formed a special committee to compensate the victims of the explosions that took place in several Iraqi provinces last Monday, the Ministry’s Undersecretary announced on Thursday.   “The Committee shall visit the wounded persons in different Iraqi hospitals and to discuss possibility to present them financial support till their healing, along with compensating them and other victims, according to Law No.20 of 2009,” Abdul-Karim Shallal said during a visit to Karbala city on Thursday.   He said that “Each family of the victims of last Monday’s explosions shall receive 5 million dinars for each individual, according to the Iraqi Compensations Law, approved by the Parliament for the victims of terrorist operations.”   “A special committee was also formed to follow up the violations, committed against prisoners and detainees in Iraqi prisons and detention centers,” Shall said, stressing that “Iraq is considered one of the active states in the International Organization to Oppose Torture, along with having concluded 6 international agreements in this respect.”   SKH (IT)   432
