ISIS attempted to drown Baghdad in Tigris River says Baghdad Operations Chief
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, Baghdad Operations Command announced it foiled an attempt to drown the capital city of Baghdad in Tigris River.
The Operations Chief, Gen. Officer Abdel Amir Al-Shamri said in a press conference today,“The ISIS militants tried to open the Samarra Barrage and let the water flow to Baghdad. Their plan was exposed on the back of the battle in Muthanna and Samarra-Fallujah road.”
Noteworthy, constant clashes are occurring between the ISIS militants and the Iraqi Army forces in Samarra. The city of Samarra is an ancient area, located 120 km north of Baghdad city, and both cities located along the Tigris River.
