(IraqiNews.com) Leader of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi demanded his followers to change the timing system in effect in the Syrian province of Raqqa, by adding 60 minutes. The reason behind that is to not be following the timing followed by the Syrian regime.

Anatolia news agency quoted Abu Ibrahim al-Raquaoui, a media activist, “ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi issued an order binding residents of al-Rigga to adjust their clocks to 60 minutes forward.”

Al-Raquaoui explained, “ISIS simply justified it that they don’t want to follow the timing followed by Nusayris, in reference to the Syrian regime,” adding that, “preachers called for the people to abide by it. ”

On the other hand, a media activist in al-Rigga, called Ali, who asked not to mention his surname for fear of ISIS punishment, said, “Preachers called on worshipers and people in al-Rigga to forward their clocks 60 minutes, in compliance with the orders of the Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”

Ali claimed he did not know whether the new timing will be applied in all areas under the ISIS control in Syria or is it limited to al-Rigga only.

IraqiNews.com was unable to confirm the validity of what the two media activists said about the reasons behind changing the timing and the methods of informing citizens.
