Italian Foreign Minister vows support for Iraq
(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni arrived in Iraq for a short visit to discuss Italian aid to Iraq with both Iraqi and Kurdish officials during a 24-hour visit.
During his short visit, Gentiloni vowed continued support for Iraq and confirmed that Italy will send 280 military advisors to train Kurdish fighters to battle the ISIS group militants, noting that Italy has contributed to the anti-ISIS coalition through humanitarian aids, weapons, munitions, and through four Tornado jets and two reconnaissance predators.
“Thanks for the extraordinary and continuous support to Iraq in its struggle against ISIS,” FM Ibrahim al-Jaafari has said.
