JFO denounces arrest of TV channel correspondent in Babel

BAGHDAD/IraqiNews.com A Non-governmental organisation advocating journalists on Thursday denounced the arrest of a correspondent for an Iraqi satellite TV channel in Babel. “Journalistic Freedom Observatory (JFO) denounced detaining of Biladi channel correspondence Ahmed Emad by Iraqi army in Babel”. The correspondent was covering the handover of security in al-Hashimiyat district, south Babel, when he was arrested. The JFO lashed out Ministry of defense for “not considering the instruction voiced by Prime Minister Nouri al-maliki in April in taking rigorous measures against those who mistreat journalists”. JFO is a Baghdad-based NGO advocating journalists and journalistic freedom in Iraq. It was established in a partnership with reporters without borders in 2004. AM(S)     1
