Karbala blast that caused 26 casualties, executed by woman

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The explosions that caused the killing of 3 persons and injured 23 others at the Shiite Holy City of Karbala on Firday, was executed by a woman, a Karbala Operations Command source told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the Command had sent dozens of police-women to search women, attending the current religious celebrations in the Province.   “The explosions that took place on Friday inside a garage at the northern entrance of Karbala city, was carried out by a woman, involved in armed attacks in the city,” the source said, adding that the woman had sneaked into the area through one of the remote place and set up an explosive charge under a car, that blew off and caused the large number of casualties.   At least 3 persons have been killed and 23 others, including women and children, as a final result for the blast of the explosive charge, under a car close to a checkpoint, 15 km to the north of Karbala .   The Shiite Holy city of Karbala is witnessing visits by thousands of Shiites, commemorating the anniversary of the birth of Imam Mohammed al-Mahdi, the 12 th leading Imam of Shiite Muslims, born in Samarra city, 100 km to then north of Baghdad, on Shaaban 15 th of the Muslim Hijri Year 255, 29/July/869 AD.   SKH (IT)
