Karbala lawyers demand protection after their Chairman exposed for assassination

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The Bar Association in southern Iraq’s holy city of Karbala have demanded protection after an abortive assassination attempt against its Chairman, Qais al-Amiry, on Monday night, an Association media spokesman said. “The Chairman of Karbala‘s Bar Association, Lawyer Qais al-Amiry, has been exposed for an abortive assassination attempt by unknown gunmen in Karbala city center on Monday night, whilst the gunmen escaped after their attempt,” Aqil Al-Gilgawy told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that Kabala Lawyers have demanded protection by the security forces after the attempt, along with calling on the authorities to detail the “terrorists who tried to assassinate their Chairman.” Karbala had witnessed an attempt 2 weeks ago against one of the representatives of the Grand Shiite Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistany, Sheikh Muhannad al-Mi’mar.
