Key ISI member netted, arms cache seized in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A leading member of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) group was arrested by Iraqi army soldiers while a federal police force seized a cache of arms and explosives in western Mosul, according to a statement by the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) in Mosul on Friday. “An Iraqi army force captured Abdulmonem Abdulkareem al-Hamadani, an amir (leader) in the ISI, in Mosul,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Hamadani has confessed to have perpetrated criminal and terrorist acts, killed five Iraqi army servicemen and waged armed operations in areas east of Mosul,” it added. A separate statement by the JCC said that a force from the Iraqi federal police seized a cache containing arms and explosives in al-Arabi neighborhood, western Mosul, during operations to search for wanted persons. “The cache had seven Yugoslave-made mortar shells, 13 Iraqi mortars, eight Bulgarian-made rockets, several missiles of unknown origin, 10 bags of explosives, 25 kilograms of C4 explosives, eight hand-grenades, 100 kilograms of highly explosive material and electric wires,” it read.
