Landmine explosion kills two shepherds in western Iraq
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) – Two Iraqi shepherds were killed Saturday when a landmine exploded in the western province of Anbar, a security source was quoted as saying.
Speaking to Alforat News TV channel, the source said that a landmine left by Islamic State militants went off while three shepherds were guarding their sheep in al-Nassaf area, near Fallujah, in Anbar province.
The explosion left two shepherds dead and a third wounded, the source added.
Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence in November 2017 with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.
