Member of Ninewa provincial council freed

Ninewa-Release NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A judicial source at the Mosul Criminal Court said that member of the Ninewa provincial council Jivara Ziya was freed on Thursday as charges brought against him were not proved. “Today (Jan. 15), Ziya was freed after the court issued a verdict on Thursday to spend one year behind bars, including the suspension period,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that he already spend one year under suspension. A wave of arrests waged by the integrity authority by the end of 2007 against the head of the Ninewa provincial council, Salem al-Hag and a number of members, against who arrest warrents were issued for administrative and financial corruption charges, according to security sources.
