IS members killed before carrying out suicide attacks eastern Salahuddin
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Five Islamic State militants, who planned for suicide attacks, were killed in east of Salahuddin province, a security source from the province was quoted saying on Tuesday.
“Joint troops killed on Monday evening five militants who were planning for suicide attacks,” the source told AlSumaria News. “Troops received intelligence information about the militants intentions to launch attack against joint troops deployed in al-Bou Awwad village in al-Azeem town, east of Salahuddin.”
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added, “IS deployed militants from Mutaibija and al-Zarka regions in Diyala to carry out suicide attacks and explode electricity pylons.”
Earlier on Tuesday, IS confirmed death of a senior IS leader called Haitham Abdullah Hamad al-Terazi, after the Dijla Operations Command announced on Monday killing him along with one of his companions in an operation carried out near Hawi al-Azeem region, near borders between Salahuddin and Diyala provinces.
Pivotal regions that link between each of Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk, are still held by the militants which poses threats to the liberated regions. Iraqi troops are urged to prevent the militants infiltration between Salahuddin and Kirkuk provinces, especially the regions stretching along Hamreen mountains and Al-Azeem town.
