Missan police frees kidnapped person from captors
Ninewa-Wanted MISSAN/IraqiNews.com: Iraqi police forces on Tuesday released a kidnapped individual from his captors in Missan, a security spokesman said. “Transport police patrols freed a kidnapped Baghdad-based individual from his three captors who took him from Amara center to Nahr al-Ez district, south Amara,” Brig. Sadiq Salam, director of public relations in Missan police department told IraqiNews.com. The spokesman did not elaborate further details, but said the “captors ran away after head-on clashes with police.” Last June, Iraqi security forces launched a major operation to crack down on gunmen and to assert the rule of law in Amara. Amara, 390 km south of Baghdad, is the capital city of Missan province, a border province, and has substantial oil reserves. AM (S)/SR 1
