Ninewa Police uncovers body of escaped prisoner

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Northern Iraq’s Ninewa Province ’s Police have discovered the body of one of the 14 prisoners, who escaped from a Mosul prison, on the bank of Tigris River in the city, according to a security source on Saturday.   “The Ninewa Police has discovered the body of Miqdad Bashir Hanash, one of the 14 prisoners, who had escaped from a Mosul prison,at Tobia village on one of the banks of Tirgris River, with traces of bullet shots in his head and chest, presumably by the police who had been chasing him after his escape,” the security source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   A Ninewa security source had stated on Friday that the police had detained one of the escaped prisoners, who claimed that one of his colleagues had drowned in Tigris River after the escape operation.   The Chaimran of the Security Committee in Ninewa Council, Abdul-Rahim al-Shimmary, had stated for IraqiNews.com on Friday that the police had managed to detain 21 out of the 34 prisoners, who had escaped from a Mosul prison, through a tunnel they dug under the prison.   Mosul , the center of Ninewa Province , is 405 km to the north of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   422
