Over thirty people killed, injured in bomb blast, north of Baghdad

Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said “a suicide attacker blew up himself in Heseiwa region in Tarmiyah district, north of Baghdad.”
The death toll, according to the source, “went up to seven civilians, while the injured number reached 25 civilians.”
“Security troops cordoned off the blast scene. The victims were taken to hospital, while the wounded were transferred to nearby hospital for treatment,” the source added.
Earlier today, the Iraqi Security Media Center was quoted saying that an attacker targeted a “mourning ceremony” in Tarimiya, leaving a number of civilians dead and wounded.
A total of 68 Iraqis were killed and another 122 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in April, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
As many as 3,298 civilians were killed and 4,781 others were wounded in 2017, excluding Anbar civilian casualty figures for November and December, which are not available, UNAMI said in a report in December.
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.
