PKK continues recruiting children in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja: Official
(BasNews) The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) continues recruiting children and from Sulaymaniyah and Halabja provinces of Kurdistan Region, sending them to enter military activities, said a member of Sulaymaniyah provincial council.
“The children [in PKK’s recruitment target] are under 18,” said Dana Shahid Jaza who chairs the security committee at the council, noting that the party refuses to allow the children to leave even if they regret.
Forcing children into military activities is not only against the law but also harms the society, the official told BasNews.
He pointed out that security forces are notified on the case and urged to tighten security measures in the border areas in hopes of preventing the issue grow further.
