PKK’s infiltration into Kurdistan must be stopped-party
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Islamic Fadhila Party on Sunday called on Iraqi authorities to prevent Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members from infiltrating into Iraqi territories to attack Turkish targets. “I urge the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG) to prevent PKK fighters from using Iraqi territories to launch military operations against neighboring countries,” the party’s head, Hassan al-Shamri, told IraqiNews.com. Shamri condemned recent PKK attacks on Turkish territories, urging the Turkish government to coordinate with its Iraqi counterpart to put an end to “those violations.” The PKK ( Partiya KarkerĂȘn Kurdistan ) is a militant organization founded in the 1970s. The PKK’s goal has been to create an independent, socialist Kurdish state in Kurdistan; a geographical region that comprises parts of southeastern Turkey, northeastern Iraq, northeastern Syria and northwestern Iran, where the Kurdish population is the majority.
