Police detain suspected gunman in Kut

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Police forces arrested on Friday one person, suspected of killing two civilians after kidnapping them, in western Kut, according to a security source. “Policemen managed on Friday morning (Oct. 9) to arrest Ali Shrief for his involvement in killing two civilians in al-Ezza region, western Kut,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Preliminary investigation proved his involvement in killing Akram Shahied and Murtada Hassan Hajem after bringing them to his house,” he added. Police forces found late Thursday (Oct. 8) in al-Ezza region the bodies of the two civilians who disappeared on Wednesday (Oct. 7). Kut, the capital of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
