Police free kidnapped girl, arrest kidnapper in Wassit
Wassit-Female WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Thursday freed a kidnapped girl and arrested one of her kidnappers in central Kut, said a security source. “A police force on Thursday managed to free a girl and arrested one of her kidnappers during a security raid of a house in central Kut,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “The girl was kidnapped yesterday in al-Khajiya region in central Kut,” he added. “The operation was based on a tip-off,” the source noted. He did not add further details. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
