Policeman injured in U.S. forces attack on his patrol in Wassit Province

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi policeman has been injured in attack on his patrol by a U.S. Army patrol north of Kut, the center of southern Iraq ’s Wassit Province on Saturday, a Wassit police source reported.   “A U.S. Army force had attacked an Iraqi police patrol on Saturday in Nu’maniya township, 40 km to the north of Kut, wounding a policeman,” the police source told IraqiNews.com news agency.   In another incident, four unknown gunmen, using a civilian car, have attacked a petrol-filling station, also at the same township, stealing about 5 million Iraqi dinars, under an armed threat early in the day, the police source added.   “The police had imposed a cordon around the area, where the filling station existed, beginning an investigating and searching for the armed men, who escaped after the attack,” he stressed.   Kut, the center of Wassit Province , is 180 km to southeast of Baghdad .   SKH (IT)   676
