Policeman’s wife injured in bomb blast western Baqubah
Baqubah(IraqiNews.com) A policeman’s wife was injured in a bomb blast that exploded in western Baqubah, a local source from Diyala said.
Speaking to AlSumaria News on Saturday, the source said “an IED placed outside a house of a policeman in al-Jahiza region, west of Baqubah, exploded in the afternoon, leaving the policeman’s wife wounded and the house damaged.”
IS holds pivotal regions that link between each of Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk, posing threats to the liberated regions.
Some areas in Diyala have seen a surge over the past months in bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians, which urge Iraqi forces to prevent the militants infiltration between Salahuddin and Kirkuk provinces, especially the regions stretching along Hamreen mountains and Al-Azeem town.
Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State Sunni extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
More than 700 Iraqis were killed and wounded during June as result of violence and armed conflicts, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), which excludes security members’ deaths. Baghdad ranked the second place with 22 deaths and 88 injuries.
