Roadside bomb wounds paramilitary fighter in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi paramilitary fighter was wounded Sunday when an explosive charge went off in Mosul city, a security source said.
“A roadside bomb went off Sunday morning in al-Tasa village, south of Mosul, leaving a member of the paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces wounded,” the source told the Arabic-language Al-Ahd News website.
According to the source, the wounded was moved to a nearby hospital for treatment and a probe was opened into the incident.
Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
