 Iraqi forces repel ISIS multi-front attack on al-Rutba, Anbar

(IraqiNews.com) al-Anbar – On Monday, al-Rutba District Council announced foiling an attack from three directions by the ISIS militants on al-Rutba city.

Head of the district council, Emad al-Dulaimi, said in a statement obtained by Iraqi News, “ISIS attacked al-Rutba (310 km west of Ramadi) from three directions through the desert that is west of the city,” adding, “Federal Police forces and fighters from local tribes managed to foil a multi-front attack and destroy a booby-trapped vehicle driven by a suicide bomber and another machine gun mounted vehicle.”

“Both the government and local tribal security forces control entire al-Rutba city,” he added.
