Security forces repulse IS attack near Ramadi, kills suicide bomber
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Jazeera Operations Command in Anbar Province announced on Monday repulsing an attack launched by the Islamic State on Security forces, north of Ramadi, while pointed out to the killing of the suicide bomber and destroying a booby-trapped vehicle.
Commander of Jazeera Operations, Major General Qassim al-Mohamadi, said in a press statement, “Security forces managed to destroy a booby-trapped vehicle driven by a suicide bomber, belonging to the Islamic state group, before attacking security forces in al-Tharthar Basin, north of Ramadi.”
“The security forces also killed the suicide bomber inside the vehicle,” Mohamadi added.
“The attempts of the Islamic State to attack security forces, using suicide bombers and booby-trapped vehicles, were foiled, and security forces will destroy their last strongholds in eastern Anbar soon,” Mohamadi explained.
Mohamadi also said that the desert and areas surrounding Tharthar Lake and Wadi Hawran are searched and secured, to prevent the Islamic State from establishing new headquarters.
