Six Islamic State members killed in Iraqi army shelling, west of Anbar

Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said “the army jets shelled a convoy for Islamic State once it arrived in Rutba, west of Anbar, which left six militants, including two leaders, killed.”
The shelling, according to the source, “destroyed the militants’ vehicles completely, depending on intelligence information.”
The army “intensified its shelling against Islamic State convoys coming from Syria toward Iraq,” he added.
On Wednesday, a security source was quoted saying that common borders between Iraq and Syria is completely secured and that Iraq has no intentions to carry out any military operations in Syria, however, they received orders to respond to any terrorist attack.
On Saturday, a senior officer from Jazeera Operations Command said the army’s artillery bombarded Islamic State pockets 10 kilometers in the depth of Syrian lands.
Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016.
In December, the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced gaining control on all the territories that were captured by Islamic State, since 2014.
