Soldier wounded in IED blast, unknown body found in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi army soldier was wounded when an improvised explosive device went off near his patrol while army soldiers found an unidentified body in two separate places in Mosul, an official army source said on Saturday. “The IED blast took place in central Mosul city,” the source, who refused to be named, told IraqiNews.com. Meanwhile, the same source said, army soldiers found an unidentified body in al-Taheer neighborhood, eastern Mosul. “The body, which was found inside a civilian vehicle, showed signs of having been shot,” the source said, not giving more details about the two separate incidents. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
