South Korean troops end mission end in Arbil
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Arbil on Monday witnessed ceremonies marking the end of the mission of the South Korean forces stationed in the Iraqi Kurdistan region in the presence of a number of Kurdish and foreign leaders. “The South Korean forces will leave the Iraqi Kurdistan region on December 5,” said the commander of the South Korean troops in a speech on the occasion. “The South Korean forces have offered services for the region, including the Vocational Training Center for the al-Zaytoun Division, which comprised departments to learn computers, fixing electrical appliances, cars, driving lessons and pastry making,” he said. “The South Korean contingent also opened al-Zaytoun hospital, where 88,000 Iraqis benefited from its health services, in addition to sending more than 20 children to South Korea to undergo surgeries for treatment from birth cardiac defects,” he added. A total 3,566 South Korean troops had stationed in the Iraqi Kurdistan region in September 2004. AmR (P) 1
