Sticky IED wounds girl in Ninewa

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A girl on Wednesday was wounded in an explosion that ripped through Mosul’s western district of Talafar, according to a local security source. “On Wednesday, a sticky improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in front of a house in al-Muthanna neighborhood, Talafar district (60 km west of Mosul), injuring one girl who was close the location of the blast,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “Meanwhile, police forces defused another sticky explosive charge placed inside a policeman’s vehicle in Mosul’s southern area of al-Mishraq, causing no casualties,” the source added. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The original city of Mosul stands on the west bank of the Tigris River, opposite the ancient biblical city of Nineveh on the east bank, but the metropolitan area has now grown to encompass substantial areas on both banks, with five bridges linking the two sides.
