Suspect arrested on terror-related charges
KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Joint forces in Kirkuk province arrested a wanted person for his suspected involvement in terror activities, a senior local police officer said on Monday. “In cooperation with the Multi-National Force (MNF), local police forces conducted a search raid in Taza district (25 km south of Kirkuk city) and arrested Mohammed Katei in accordance with Article IV of the Terrorism Law,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told IraqiNews.com. The officer did not provide further details. Kirkuk, 250 km (156 miles) north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, sits on the ruins of a 5,000-year-old settlement. Because of the strategic geographical location of the city, Kirkuk was the battle ground for three empires, Assyria, Babylonia and Media which controlled the city at various times. SS (P) 1
