Three Iraqi civilians killed, wounded in bomb attack northeast of Diyala

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – A security source said on Wednesday that three Iraqi citizens were killed and wounded in a bomb blast in northeastern Diyala.
A booby-trapped motorbike exploded near Abu Sebaa village, 27km northeast of Baqubah, the capital of Diyala province, the source told Baghdad Today news agency.
“The explosion left an Iraqi civilian dead and two others wounded,” added the source, pointing out that the security forces launched a probe into the bomb attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State (IS) militant group, in most cases, is responsible for attacks targeting crowded areas, including markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.
A total of 69 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 105 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in October 2018, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
Former Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi declared the end of military operations against Islamic State in Iraq on December 9, 2017 three years after the militant group captured about a third of Iraq’s territory. On July 10 that year, the former premier had formally declared victory over Islamic State extremists in Mosul, which served as the terrorists’ main urban stronghold.
