Three Islamic State members killed in airstrike, west of Anbar

“Army jets shelled a vehicle for Islamic State while trying to reach to Kubaisa region in Heet town, leaving three militants killed,” the source told Almaalomah website.
Intelligence information, according to the source, “enabled the jets to target the vehicle after military units noticed it.”
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.
On Friday, a soldier was killed, while two others were profoundly injured as a bomb, from remnants of war against Islamic State, went off, west of Anbar, as army forces were carrying out an operation at regions at Rutba, near the borders between Iraq and Syria.
Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, in December, full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.
