Three people wounded in bomb blast, southwest of Baghdad

“A bomb, placed on the side of the road at al-Bayaa’ region, southwest of Baghdad, went off today, leaving three people injured,” the source told AlSumaria News.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said, “security troops cordoned off the blast scene and prevented approaching, while the wounded were taken to hospital for treatment.”
Baghdad has recently seen significant security stability, however, some bomb blasts take place in sporadic regions across the capital every now and then.
A total of 76 people were killed and 129 others were injured due to acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflicts during the month of June, casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
Diyala was the worst affected Governorate, according to the report, with 52 civilian casualties (16 killed, 36 injured), then came Kirkuk (10 killed, 36 injured) then Baghdad (19 killed and 18 injured).
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.
Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.
