Turkish jets bombard PKK bases
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Turkish fighter jets bombarded bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, the Turkish army’s staff command said on Thursday in a release posted online. “The targets were attacked with high precision on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning,” the release said. “All of the jets that participated in the operations returned home safely,” it added. The PKK’s goal has been to create an independent, socialist Kurdish state in Kurdistan; a geographical region that comprises parts of southeastern Turkey, northeastern Iraq, northeastern Syria and northwestern Iran. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization internationally by a number of states and organizations, including the United States of America, NATO and the European Union. MH (P)/SR 1
