Two civilians killed, three wounded in two blasts, western Baghdad
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Two civilians were killed, three others were wounded in two blasts that occurred in west of Baghdad, a police source was quoted saying on Saturday.
A bomb placed near a parking lot in abu Ghraib region, west of Baghdad, exploded leaving three civilians injured.
Security troops cordoned off the accident spot and transferred the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Another blast occurred when an IED- planted under a car- took place as the car was passing in al-Jihad region, west of Baghdad. The man and his wife on board were killed.
On Friday, three Iraqi policemen were wounded when a bomb blast targeted their patrol in southern Baghdad.
Violence and armed conflicts claimed the lives of 317 Iraqis and caused injuries to 403 others during the month of April, according to a monthly count released by the United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMI).
Nineveh, where U.S.-backed Iraqi government troops are caught up in battles against Islamic State militants in Mosul since October, was the most affected governorate, with 276 casualties (153 killed, 123 injured), according to UNAMI. Baghdad governorate came next with 55 killed and 179 injured. Salahuddin came third, with 15 killed and 43 injured.
