Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi troops have arrested Islamic State’s security minister and the member in charge of the security detachments in two operations in Mosul, a source from Nineveh police said on Thursday.

“Security troops arrested abu Talha al-Efri, a prominent Islamic State member and a minister of the group’s security affiars,” Cap. Farouq Adham told BasNews.

The police, according to Adham, “arrested Thanoun al-Sahab, the militant in charge of the group’s security detachments as well as selling the Yazidi female captives in Domez Filastine region.”

The arrested militants “were taken to Nineveh police command headquarters for investigations,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Iraqi police arrested Taha Mohamed Salama, an Islamic State member who was in charge of the group’s mortar launchers. Nineveh police command announced, on Tuesday, 13 IS members were arrested in southeast of Mosul.

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, in December, full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.
