Two IS synchronous attacks on Tikrit, 3 security members wounded
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) A security source in Salahuddin Province revealed that the Islamic State group launched two synchronous attacks on the areas east and northeast of Tikrit, Bas News reported on Monday.
The source said, “Members of the Islamic State launched an attack on Ajil oilfield (50 km northeast of Tikrit), and another one on al-Mobaded area, east of the city.”
“The attack started with an artillery shelling, followed by a ground attack on the locations of Iraqi forces in the two areas,” the source added. “Clashes currently take place between the two sides, while the Islamic State is advancing in some axes,” the source explained.
The source also pointed out that the Army Aviation was summoned to interfere in the clashes, before the situation crumbles, while primary information indicated to the injury of three members of al-Hashd al-Ashaeri during the attacks.
