U.S. army nabs 16 al-Qaeda suspects in Ninewa, Kirkuk
BAGHDAD/IraqiNews.com: U.S army on Tuesday announced its forces arrested 16 al-Qaeda network suspects in Ninewa and Kirkuk. “ Coalition forces captured eleven wanted men and detained two suspects Monday during an operation near Qayyarah, about 60 km south of Mosul and Um Tu Aym district, 38 km west Mosul,” said a U.S military statement received by IraqiNews.com. The announcement noted one of the detained “has connections to regional al-Qaeda network in Iraq (AQI) leadership and suspected terrorists already in custody”. In Kirkuk, the U.S. troops captured “five suspects believed to be associated with a wanted man assessed to conspire directly with the area’s AQI leaders.
