U.S. Defense Secretary vows ‘lasting defeat’ against ISIS
(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter vowed ‘lasting defeat’ against ISIS during his meeting with military officers and defense officials in Kuwait to review updates of the U.S.-led campaign against the IS group in Iraq and Syria.
Only days after taking office, U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter convened his meeting with a number of senior military officers and officials at the U.S. Army base in Camp Arifjan.
Carter said the U.S.-led coalition was “pressing” ISIS “very ably from Kuwait and elsewhere.”
“ISIL is not just a threat to Iraq and Syria. It’s a larger threat to the region,”
“And we will deliver lasting defeat, make no doubt,” he said.
