URGENT / Baghdad Provincial Council’s Chairman escapes assassination attempt.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of Baghdad’s Provincial Council, Kamil al-Zaidy, has escaped an assassination attempt, when an explosive charge blew off against his motorcade in eastern Baghdad on Monday, wounding 4 persons, including 2 of his guards, a security source said.   “An explosive charge, planted on the roadside in eastern Baghdad’s al-Sadr city, blew off against the motorcade of the Chairman of Baghdad Province’s Council, Kamil al-Zaidy, but he escaped the attack, whilst 4 persons, including 2 of his guards, were injured, along with damage caused to a number of the motorcade’s vehicles,” he said.   He added that the security forces had imposed a cordon around the venue of the blast, whilst the injured persons were driven to Baghdad ’s Imam Ali Bin-Abu Taleb Hospital for treatment.   SKH (ST)   398
