URGENT: Salahuddin governor announces beginning of operation to liberate Baiji

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – The Governor of Salahuddin Raed Jubouri announced Monday, the start of the military operation to liberate Baiji district and its oil refinery north of Tikrit from ISIS control, while noted to the arrival of large military reinforcements of the security forces and the al-Hashd al-Sha’bi militia to the province.
Jubouri said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “The operation to liberate Baiji (40 km north of Tikrit) and its oil refinery from ISIS control started last night from two axes,” adding that, “The first axis begins from al-Mahzan village to the areas of al-Mazraa and Baaji, the second begins from al-Mazraa to Hyundai Bridge and Tel Abu Jarad down to the Baiji refinery.”
