Vehicle movement ban imposed in Old Najaf City

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The security forces of Najaf province banned the vehicle movement in the Old City in preparation for commemorating Ashura Day (Next Sunday) in the holy shrine of Imam Ali.

The Chairman of the Security Committee in Najaf Provincial Council, Luai al-Yaseri, stated to IraqiNews.com on Wednesday ”The security forces closed the entire Old Najaf City since this morning and imposed vehicle movement ban from Thaurat al-Ishreen Square in preparation for securing the rituals of commemorating of the Martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH).”

He added ”This procedure, which will last until 11 of Muharrem, (next Tuesday) comes within the context of the security plan set to secure the roads of the Husseini processions which will start on Thursday.”
