VP holds army brigade responsible for Abu-Ghraib killings
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi on Wednesday held the Iraqi army 24th brigade and its commander, Colonel Raheem Kareem Resan, responsible for the killings of 17 people in Abu-Ghraib district. Al-Hashemi described the incident as a “massacre,” and held Resan and his brigade deployed in Abu-Ghraib fully responsible for committing it. “What happened in Abu-Ghraib two days ago is that groups in army uniform arrested 17 people from their houses, then killed them with cold blood in a nearby cemetery,” the VP said at a press conference in Baghdad attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that he is “waiting for the Baghdad Operations Command (BOC) to explain the incident, and to take the required measures so that such crimes would not occur again in future.” MH (P)/SH 1
