Wanted man arrested in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Security forces on Sunday arrested a wanted man with improvised explosive devices and rockets in his possession in western al-Kut city, a security official in Wassit said. “Interior ministry’s Quick Response Department forces captured the wanted man in Zayn al-Qaws area in western Kut with six IEDs and six rockets in his possession,” the department chief, Maj. Aziz Lateef told IraqiNews.com. “The man belongs to an armed group in the province,” Lateef said, adding the arrest took place during a search raid in the area based on intelligence tip-offs. Lateef did not name the group to which the arrested man belongs. “Initial investigations revealed that the detained man was involved in armed operations against Iraqi security forces as well as murders and kidnappings against civilians,” he said.
