Wanted man nabbed in Kut clashes
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Saturday arrested a wanted man following armed clashes in western Kut city, a security source said. “Armed clashes occurred between police personnel and members of family of the wanted person in Kut’s western neighborhood of al-Jihad,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The arrest was made in light of a warrant issued by an investigating magistrate in Kut. The source did not provide further details of the identity of the person or the reasons behind the arrest. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. Its major cities include the capital, al-Kut, and al-Hayy.
