(IraqiNews.com) the former American Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said that the fight against the so-called the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria will be difficult and may take up to 30 years to conclude.

Panetta said in remarks published by USA Today newspaper and followed by IraqiNews.com “I think that the war led by Washington against the organization ISIS will last about thirty years,” pointing out that “the threat of the extremist organization may extend to Libya, Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen.”

In August 21, 2014, the American Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced that his country is working to draw a long-term strategy to confront the organization ISIS,” calling to prepare for the organization both internally and externally.
