Yawer describes Security Operations Commands as "illegall"

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The secretary general of the Ministry of Peshmerga, Lieutenant General Jabbar al-Yawer, described the nine security commands in Iraq as ”Illegal,” stressing that ”The federal government should provide the weapons and allocate the required budget for Kurdish Peshmerga forces.”

Yawer reported in press conference ”The federal government should assume arming the Peshmerga forces and allocate financial budget for it, just like arming the police, army and Federal Interior Ministry forces, because Peshmerga forces are part of the security system of Iraq.”

”The government allocated about IQD (19,862,296) million out of the gross budget, which is estimated almost IQD 138 trillion, for the security and defense affairs while the Iraqi government refuses to allocate the required budget for Peshmerga forces and at the same time prevents the Government of Kurdistan Region from providing weapons for Peshmerga forces,” stressing that ”This problem should be solved through dialogue.”

The general secretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga pointed out ”The nine security operations commands in Iraq, including Dijla Operations Command, are illegal because they were not formed according to a resolution issued from the Parliament.”

The Prime Minster, Nouri al-Maliki, has formed several security operations commands, among them was Dijla Operations Command, which caused irritation for the Kurdish people. \
