Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that the death toll of Iraqis died in the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey last week has risen.

The spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, mentioned in a statement that 11 Iraqis died in the disaster that killed more than 37 thousand people in both Turkey and Syria.

Al-Sahaf indicated that the ministry is following the latest developments with the Turkish authorities.

Al-Sahaf added the Iraqi embassy in Ankara and the consulate in Gaziantep allocated emergency numbers to receive any reports about the victims and the missing.

Rescuers are still searching for survivors and removing dead bodies from under the rubble of the earthquake, eight days after the disaster that caused massive destruction in parts of Syria and Turkey and killed more than 37 thousand people, amid expectations that the death toll will rise.
