 3 ISIS leaders arrested in Kirkuk

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi authorities announced on Monday the arrest of three ISIS terrorists in separate security operations in Kirkuk governorate.

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency (FIIA) in the Ministry of Interior mentioned in a statement that a terrorist working within four unites of 16 ISIS elements was arrested in Kirkuk governorate.

The FIIA statement added that the arrested terrorist was in charge of information gathering as well as reconnaissance of important security sites and security officers to be targeted later.

The other terrorist was arrested in Hawija town in Kirkuk governorate and was in charge of training elements who newly joined ISIS in addition to following-up on the information gathering, according to the statement.

Interrogations revealed that the terrorist has seven siblings, all of them are members of ISIS, and one of them is a prominent leader in the group, the statement explained.

The statement added that the FIIA arrested another terrorist in Taza town in Kirkuk who confessed allegiance to ISIS in 2014 and was promoted in the terrorist group.

The FIIA clarified that the arrested terrorists were sent to the judicial authorities after they were interrogated to take a legal action against them.

The Iraqi forces are pursuing remnants of ISIS terrorists through a series of continuous military operations, most of which are concentrated in remote and border areas between the governorates used by terrorists as hideouts to plan and launch attacks.
