4 PMF members injured in an explosion in Salah Al-Din
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Four members belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were injured on Sunday in an improvised explosive device explosion in Salah Al-Din governorate north of Baghdad, according to Rudaw News.
The incident took place during a wide security operation carried out by the Salah Al-Din Operations Command of the PMF, the 31st and 51st Brigades of the PMF, the Directorate of Explosives Control and a force of the Iraqi army with the support of Iraqi air force, Rudaw News elaborated.
Tunnels and explosive devices were found and completely destroyed during the operation.
Salah Al-Din Operations Command of the PMF announced earlier on Sunday the launch of a large-scale search and security operation in Salah Al-Din Island in the western part of the governorate. Tunnels and improvised explosive devices belonging to the terrorist group of ISIS were found during the operation.
A few days ago, the PMF surrounded a group of ISIS terrorists in a 16-kilometer-long tunnel in the Rawa desert in Anbar governorate, according to Almayadeen.
In late August, a PMF member was martyred and three others were wounded when an explosive device blasted north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Almayadeen reported.
In December 2017, Iraq announced it eliminated ISIS terrorists and imposed full control over all Iraqi territories, including the border with Syria, but some hiding ISIS terrorists are still active in some areas of the country.
