Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – In light of the recent events that have taken place in Kirkuk and Diyala, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani issued directives to security officials on Wednesday.

“The Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, chaired today a security meeting that included the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations command, and a number of senior security and military leaders from different types of security forces,” noting that “the meeting was devoted to discussing the recent security developments in the governorates of Kirkuk and Diyala, which witnessed two terrorist attacks that led to the death and injury of a number of employees of the security services and civilians,” PM Al-Sudani stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement added: “Al-Sudani listened to a detailed briefing on the two terrorist incidents, and the military plans put in place to prevent the recurrence of such violations.”

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces made it clear, “what happened will not pass without the perpetrators receiving retribution.” Furthermore, he added, “the military commanders to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the plans drawn up, to change the military tactics used in areas witnessing activities of terrorist remnants, and to adopt non-traditional methods of confrontation, in a manner which weakens the capabilities of the terrorist elements of ISIS, and limits their movement,” according to INA.

Al-Sudani stressed, “all commanders to be present in the field in the operations sectors, to be close to the officers and their soldiers, to work to raise their military morale, and to stand directly on the plans and their field implementation,” the state news agency (INA) reported.
